Are you looking for a quick snack or a nutritionally balanced breakfast? Are you on a gluten-free diet?

Our Nomík porridge is what we recommend.

The porridge is made from two traditionally gluten-free ingredients, millet and rice. Because we manufacture the porridge using dehusked rice (white), the content of fibre is lower, and it serves as a gentle source of energy in the form of complex carbohydrates. These qualities make it suitable for those who need to reduce the amount of fibre in their diets for health reasons. We subject the grains to careful heat processing so you do not have to cook them, and you can have the porridge ready in just a couple of minutes. Their nutritional value remains though. The porridge has a fine texture, pleasant taste and is easily digestible.

As always, you will not find milk, added sugar or any other flavourings among the ingredients. Grains only.

A couple of tips for preparation

- You can mix the porridge in warm milk, nut milk (cocoa, almond, etc.), plant milk or even with water or yoghurt.

- Sweetening is not only about sugar. You can use honey, maple syrup, grain syrups, etc., even standard milk tastes naturally sugary.

- The porridge goes well will all kinds of fruit, ideally fresh. Dried fruit is just as suitable for flavouring though.

- A pinch of spices might come in handy as well. Cinnamon is a matter of course, but you can also try a bit of clove or other spices.

- You cannot forget about nuts and seeds.

- Your sweet tooth may be satisfied by using quality chocolate or home-made preserves.

- Do not forget that our thick porridge can also be prepared savoury. That way, it will go well with some green herbs or garlic.

- You can prepare the porridge at home, while visiting friends or even while traveling. Nomík  porridge will come in handy pretty much anywhere.

Rice

It is a traveller among the grain crops, as it often makes its way into our porridge from as far as Asia. It enjoys the warmth and humidity of tropical countries. There are numerous types of rice being cultivated around the world. Round-grain rice ice used for risottos, sticky rice for puddings, or there is basmati, the mountain rice. The entire rice family enjoy water and basically grow in swamps. Rice resembles dense grass clumps with a multitude of rice seeds at the end of each culm. Come the harvest, the water is drained away. This way, it is possible to harvest up to 3 times a year. A quarter oft the world’s population lives on a diet consisting mainly of rice.

Millet

On the field, you might mistake the plants for a dense higher grass. That is only right, because grass and millet are related. Millet is a dehusked panicum grain. Czech belongs among the few languages which have a name for them and calls them “jáhly”. It is a tasty, nutritious, healthy and filling food. For our grandmothers, it used to be the most common grain crop. There was no shortage of millet porridges and puddings on their tables. You can now have millet in your porridge as well.
