Why Choose BIO Food?

It has been heavily disputed, whether they are healthier or more tasty than the conventional ones. What we can state with absolute certainty is that the BIO products have always been produced with due respect for the environment. There is no room for synthetic fertilisers, pesticides or any other substances damaging the environment in ecological agriculture. There is a controlling system in place ensuring that certain rules are followed both by the raw ingredient producers and by the processors in their bio plants. So you can be sure what kind of food you put on your table.

BIO is not only about your diet, BIO is a lifestyle.

The porridge is not flavoured. You can choose flavouring ingredients or sweeteners to you liking. By itself, it does not contain any allergens. It is nutritious, filling and easily digestible.

You can prepare the spelt porridge to your liking. It is not flavoured. The flavouring and thickness is up to you. You choose what you use to sweeten it, and how sweet it will be.

A couple of tips for preparation

- You can mix the porridge in BIO milk, your favourite plant milk, or in watered down yoghurt for example.

- Use approximately four times the amount of the warm liquid and “fine-tune” the thickness to your liking. Consider that the porridge will continue to expand and thicken for 3-5 minutes.

- You can use for example honey, glucose or maple syrup for flavouring.

- Fresh or dried fruit, nuts or seeds can be added to the meal.

- Savoury porridge is more suited for adding herbs or garlic and you can use it much like the corn polenta.

- You can prepare the porridge at home, while visiting friends or even while traveling. The instant spelt porridge will come in handy pretty much anywhere.

Spelt is one of the longest cultivated grain crops. It is the grandmother of today’s wheat and it is going through a period of renaissance nowadays. Surely this is because of the nutritional value and easy digestibility. Spelt wheat is an excellent source of B vitamins (especially B1 and niacin) and vitamin E. As for minerals, spelt contains primarily phosphorus, potassium, iron and magnesium. The spelt fat is relatively rich in unsaturated fatty acids and contains no cholesterol. Spelt is usually slightly more rich in protein that the traditional wheat.

The dietary fibre contained in the wholegrain spelt porridge has fine strand structure, and thus it is easily tolerated by the body and supports the intestinal peristalsis as well as digestion. Spelt has a long tradition of being valued for its good digestibility and stimulating effect on the immune system. Be sure to do more research if you are interested in spelt from the viewpoint of natural healing or Chinese medicine.

Despite its undisputed qualities, the porridge is NOT SUITABLE FOR COELIACS AND A GLUTEN-FREE DIET.
