Feel free to experiment

You can prepare the oatmeal to your liking. The flavouring and thickness is up to you. You choose what you use to sweeten it, and how sweet it will be.

A couple of tips for preparation

- You can mix the oatmeal in warm milk, nut milk (cocoa, almond, etc.), plant milk or even with water or yoghurt.

- Sweetening is not only about sugar. You can use honey, maple syrup, grain syrups, etc., even the standard milk tastes naturally sugary.

- The oatmeal goes well will all kinds of fruit, ideally fresh. Dried fruit is just as suitable for flavouring though.

- A pinch of spices might come in handy as well. Cinnamon is a matter of course, but you can also try a bit of clove or other spices.

- You cannot forget about nuts and seeds.

- Your sweet tooth may be satisfied by using quality chocolate or home-made preserves.

- Do not forget that our thick oatmeal can also be prepared savoury. That way, it will go well with some green herbs or garlic.

- You can prepare the oatmeal at home, while visiting friends or even while traveling. The instant oatmeal will come in handy pretty much anywhere.

The next time your friends or family ask you why you are eating cereal oatmeal, you will have an answer. Well, you will if you remember a bit about oat and its qualities.

Oat is a truly nutritious grain crop. Compared to wheat, it contains almost double the amount of fat. And the fat is rich in unsaturated fatty acids. The complex carbohydrates contained in oat are a good source of energy for our organism due to their slow and gradual release into the body. Oat is processed in its wholegrain form, and thus it retains the advantage of high fibre content, both soluble and insoluble. There is a significant carbohydrate part of the insoluble fibre called the beta-glucans, and these are valued for their positive effect on the body. Oat is a good source of B vitamins and numerous minerals.

It is recommended for nervousness and fatigue, for the diabetics to help stabilise the blood sugar and to ease digestive problems.

Even though a significant part of the world regards oat as a gluten-free crop, gluten-free food needs to be properly labelled in our region. Coeliac-friendly varieties are cultivated overseas. Moreover, the oat varieties cultivated here are usually contaminated by other crops.

Despite its undisputed qualities, the oatmeal is NOT SUITABLE FOR COELIACS AND A GLUTEN-FREE DIET.
